마태복음 16:13-28 [개역개정]
13 예수께서 빌립보 가이사랴 지방에 이르러 제자들에게 물어 이르시되 사람들이 인자를 누구라 하느냐
14 이르되 더러는 세례 요한, 더러는 엘리야, 어떤 이는 예레미야나 선지자 중의 하나라 하나이다
15 이르시되 너희는 나를 누구라 하느냐
16 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다
17 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 바요나 시몬아 네가 복이 있도다 이를 네게 알게 한 이는 혈육이 아니요 하늘에 계신 내 아버지시니라
18 또 내가 네게 이르노니 너는 베드로라 내가 이 반석 위에 내 교회를 세우리니 음부의 권세가 이기지 못하리라
19 내가 천국 열쇠를 네게 주리니 네가 땅에서 무엇이든지 매면 하늘에서도 매일 것이요 네가 땅에서 무엇이든지 풀면 하늘에서도 풀리리라 하시고
20 이에 제자들에게 경고하사 자기가 그리스도인 것을 아무에게도 이르지 말라 하시니라
21 이 때로부터 예수 그리스도께서 자기가 예루살렘에 올라가 장로들과 대제사장들과 서기관들에게 많은 고난을 받고 죽임을 당하고 제삼일에 살아나야 할 것을 제자들에게 비로소 나타내시니
22 베드로가 예수를 붙들고 항변하여 이르되 주여 그리 마옵소서 이 일이 결코 주께 미치지 아니하리이다
23 예수께서 돌이키시며 베드로에게 이르시되 사탄아 내 뒤로 물러 가라 너는 나를 넘어지게 하는 자로다 네가 하나님의 일을 생각하지 아니하고 도리어 사람의 일을 생각하는도다 하시고
24 이에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 누구든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따를 것이니라
25 누구든지 제 목숨을 구원하고자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 찾으리라
26 사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요 사람이 무엇을 주고 제 목숨과 바꾸겠느냐
27 인자가 아버지의 영광으로 그 천사들과 함께 오리니 그 때에 각 사람이 행한 대로 갚으리라
28 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 여기 서 있는 사람 중에 죽기 전에 인자가 그 왕권을 가지고 오는 것을 볼 자들도 있느니라

13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’
14 They replied, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’
15 ‘But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’
16 Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’
17 Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’
20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. ‘Never, Lord!’ he said. ‘This shall never happen to you!’
23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling-block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.’
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
28 ‘Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.’

13 Da kam Jesus in die Gegend von Cäsarea Philippi und fragte seine Jünger und sprach: Wer sagen die Leute, dass der Menschensohn sei?
14 Sie sprachen: Einige sagen, du seist Johannes der Täufer, andere, du seist Elia, wieder andere, du seist Jeremia oder einer der Propheten.
15 Er sprach zu ihnen: Wer sagt denn ihr, dass ich sei?
16 Da antwortete Simon Petrus und sprach: Du bist der Christus, des lebendigen Gottes Sohn!
17 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Selig bist du, Simon, Jonas Sohn; denn Fleisch und Blut haben dir das nicht offenbart, sondern mein Vater im Himmel.
18 Und ich sage dir auch: Du bist Petrus, und auf diesen Felsen will ich meine Gemeinde bauen, und die Pforten der Hölle sollen sie nicht überwältigen.
19 Ich will dir die Schlüssel des Himmelreichs geben: Was du auf Erden binden wirst, soll auch im Himmel gebunden sein, und was du auf Erden lösen wirst, soll auch im Himmel gelöst sein.
20 Da gebot er den Jüngern, niemandem zu sagen, dass er der Christus sei.
21 Seit der Zeit fing Jesus an, seinen Jüngern zu zeigen, dass er nach Jerusalem gehen und viel leiden müsse von den Ältesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten und getötet werden und am dritten Tage auferstehen.
22 Und Petrus nahm ihn beiseite und fuhr ihn an und sprach: Gott bewahre dich, Herr! Das widerfahre dir nur nicht!
23 Er aber wandte sich um und sprach zu Petrus: Geh weg von mir, Satan! Du bist mir ein Ärgernis; denn du meinst nicht, was göttlich, sondern was menschlich ist.
24 Da sprach Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: Will mir jemand nachfolgen, der verleugne sich selbst und nehme sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir.
25 Denn wer sein Leben erhalten will, der wird’s verlieren; wer aber sein Leben verliert um meinetwillen, der wird’s finden.
26 Was hülfe es dem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewönne und nähme doch Schaden an seiner Seele? Oder was kann der Mensch geben, womit er seine Seele auslöse?
27 Denn es wird geschehen, dass der Menschensohn kommt in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters mit seinen Engeln, und dann wird er einem jeden vergelten nach seinem Tun.
28 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Es sind etliche unter denen, die hier stehen, die werden den Tod nicht schmecken, bis sie den Menschensohn kommen sehen in seinem Reich.
