마태복음 4:1-11 [개역개정]

1 그 때에 예수께서 성령에게 이끌리어 마귀에게 시험을 받으러 광야로 가사

2 사십 일을 밤낮으로 금식하신 후에 주리신지라

3 시험하는 자가 예수께 나아와서 이르되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 명하여 이 돌들로 떡덩이가 되게 하라

4 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 기록되었으되 사람이 떡으로만 살 것이 아니요 하나님의 입으로부터 나오는 모든 말씀으로 살 것이라 하였느니라 하시니

5 이에 마귀가 예수를 거룩한 성으로 데려다가 성전 꼭대기에 세우고

6 이르되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 뛰어내리라 기록되었으되 그가 너를 위하여 그의 사자들을 명하시리니 그들이 손으로 너를 받들어 발이 돌에 부딪치지 않게 하리로다 하였느니라

7 예수께서 이르시되 또 기록되었으되 주 너의 하나님을 시험하지 말라 하였느니라 하시니

8 마귀가 또 그를 데리고 지극히 높은 산으로 가서 천하 만국과 그 영광을 보여

9 이르되 만일 내게 엎드려 경배하면 이 모든 것을 네게 주리라

10 이에 예수께서 말씀하시되 사탄아 물러가라 기록되었으되 주 너의 하나님께 경배하고 다만 그를 섬기라 하였느니라

11 이에 마귀는 예수를 떠나고 천사들이 나아와서 수종드니라

1 The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert. There the devil tempted him.

2 After 40 days and 40 nights of going without eating, Jesus was hungry.

3 The tempter came to him. He said, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.’

4 Jesus answered, ‘It is written, “Man must not live only on bread. He must also live on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” ’

5 Then the devil took Jesus to the holy city. He had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

6 ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down. It is written, ‘ “The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won’t trip over a stone.” ’

7 Jesus answered him, ‘It is also written, “Do not test the Lord your God.” ’

8 Finally, the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain. He showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

9 ‘If you bow down and worship me,’ he said, ‘I will give you all this.’

10 Jesus said to him, ‘Get away from me, Satan! It is written, “Worship the Lord your God. He is the only one you should serve.” ’

11 Then the devil left Jesus. Angels came and took care of him.

Matthäus 4,1-11 [HfA]

1 Danach wurde Jesus vom Geist Gottes in die Wüste geführt, wo er den Versuchungen des Teufels ausgesetzt sein sollte.

2 Nachdem er vierzig Tage und Nächte lang gefastet hatte, war er sehr hungrig.

3 Da trat der Versucher an ihn heran und sagte: »Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, dann befiehl doch, dass diese Steine zu Brot werden!«

4 Aber Jesus wehrte ab: »Es steht in der Heiligen Schrift: ›Der Mensch lebt nicht allein von Brot, sondern von allem, was Gott ihm zusagt!‹ «

5 Da nahm ihn der Teufel mit in die heilige Stadt Jerusalem und stellte ihn auf die höchste Stelle des Tempels.

6 »Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, dann spring hinunter«, forderte er Jesus auf. »In der Schrift steht doch: ›Gott wird dir seine Engel schicken. Sie werden dich auf Händen tragen, so dass du dich nicht einmal an einem Stein stoßen wirst!‹ «

7 Jesus entgegnete ihm: »In der Schrift steht aber auch: ›Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht herausfordern!‹ «

8 Schließlich führte ihn der Teufel auf einen sehr hohen Berg und zeigte ihm alle Reiche der Welt mit ihrer ganzen Pracht.

9 »Das alles gebe ich dir, wenn du vor mir niederfällst und mich anbetest«, sagte er.

10 Aber Jesus wies ihn ab: »Weg mit dir, Satan, denn es heißt in der Schrift: ›Bete allein den Herrn, deinen Gott, an und diene nur ihm!‹ «

11 Da ließ der Teufel von Jesus ab, und die Engel Gottes kamen und sorgten für ihn.
